Days 1426–1442 • Klaipeda – Usedom •
Around Kaliningrad and the Polish Baltic Coast
Published on 21.06.2026, 18:37 in Halle (Saale), Germany
This report’s podcast is only available in german:
Rund um Kaliningrad und die polnische Ostseeküste.
We leave the Lithuanian Baltic Sea coast at Klaipeda to cycle all the way around the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. After that, we have nearly 800 km through Poland ahead of us. In the east, the ride goes quite smoothly, along beautiful forest paths through the Romincka Forest and on pleasant rail trails. We’re also joined by Tizian’s brother Nico, who keeps us company on his bike for three days. Past Gdansk, we’re slowed down not only by constant rain showers but also by sandy paths, and when we rejoin the Baltic Sea Coastal Cycle Route, we certainly aren’t the only ones on it. After just under two weeks in the 47th country of our tour, we finally reach Germany again on Usedom. So now we just have to cross Germany almost entirely diagonally, from the northeast to the southwest.
